Industrial design means participating in the whole process around product development, from idea to final form. This requires fresh knowledge and awareness in many different areas. The industrial designer should also be able to reflect on cultural and technological shifts in society.

Research is focused on three main areas: meta qualities, i.e. the emotional dimensions of products and design elements, methods of communication with the user and in the creative work of the industrial designer, as well as the management of design in companies.
